Data Centers: Control, Monitoring and Interoperability
November 4 @ 11:30 am - 12:15 pm

When we talk about data centers, we often focus on power, cooling, or resilience. However, the reality is that none of these aspects can be managed efficiently without a solid control and monitoring strategy.
In this field, ASHRAE not only provides recommendations on the environmental and operational conditions of data centers, but has also promoted open standards such as BACnet, which has become a key reference for the integration of building automation and control systems.
We will explore how interoperability between different manufacturers can reduce dependence on proprietary solutions, enhance—or, in some cases, challenge—real-time monitoring capabilities, and help optimize both energy performance and system reliability.
This approach can also enable the integration of BMS, DCIM, HVAC, power, and monitoring systems under a unified view of data center operations.
Finally, we will discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with achieving harmonized control and monitoring across data center infrastructure.
