World Ventilation Day

November 12 @ 9:00 am - 1:30 pm

The ASHRAE Portugal Chapter, in partnership with APIRAC, will participate in the International Conference “World Ventilation Day and the Effective Integration between Indoor Air Quality and Energy Efficiency in Buildings”, taking place in Lisbon on 12 November 2026.

Organized in celebration of World Ventilation Day 2026, the conference will bring together professionals, industry leaders, public authorities and national and international organizations to discuss the growing importance of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and its effective integration with energy efficiency in buildings.

Good ventilation is essential to creating healthy, comfortable and sustainable indoor environments. As buildings move towards higher levels of energy performance and lower carbon emissions, achieving the right balance between indoor air quality, energy use and occupant comfort is becoming increasingly important.

The conference will address key topics including continuous monitoring of indoor air quality, natural and mechanical ventilation systems, the relationship between IAQ and occupant health and productivity, the certification of IAQ professionals, and the integration of ventilation strategies with building energy efficiency.

The event will also provide an opportunity to reflect on the evolving European regulatory framework and the role of ventilation and indoor environmental quality in the implementation of the recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).

The event will feature ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer Bill McQuade, providing an additional opportunity to engage, exchange ideas, and build valuable connections.
