HVAC Hero: Learn, Play, and Make a Difference

ASHRAE has introduced HVAC Hero, an interactive educational game designed to inspire the next generation of HVAC&R professionals while promoting a deeper understanding of building performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Developed as part of President Sarah E. Maston’s 2026–2027 presidential theme, “Changing the Game: Retrofitting for Resilience,” the game combines learning with engaging gameplay in a fun and accessible format.

In HVAC Hero, players step into the role of a facility manager responsible for operating and improving a building. Guided by Muggy, their virtual companion, they explore building systems, identify maintenance and operational challenges, and make decisions that improve energy performance while reducing carbon emissions. Along the way, players apply ASHRAE Standards and Guidelines in realistic scenarios, developing practical problem-solving skills through interactive learning.

The game reflects ASHRAE’s commitment to innovative education and workforce development by introducing building science concepts in an engaging and enjoyable way.
